Looking for Board Gamers

My wife and I love to play various strategy board games.  Some of our favorites are Power Grid, Agricola, Settlers of Catan, Race for the Galaxy, Ticket to Ride, Formula De, etc....

Since we're recently relocated here in Geneva, we're looking to see if there is an existing group of gamers.  Or at least find others that have the same interests and want to try to

Drop us a line if you are a board gamer, know someone who is, or even know of a local store that sells some board games!

thanks!

So I did alittle more searching and found where the Geneva gamers are "hiding" out.

There's a group called Joca that is meeting 2 times a month (roughly).  They are mostly french speakers but there are a few very friendly and helpful english speakers in the group as well. And now that I've found them, my wife and I are going to be regular fixtures around there....

 http://www.joca.ch/

For a preview of what to expect there, check out their images from this friday: http://www.joca.ch/photos/Image/Sjoca_2010/sjoca_02052010/index.php?h=1200

This was at Les Recyclables so it was nice and cozy.   You can find the future meeting dates at:

Hope to see some of you there!

I don't know any of the games you mentioned either, but I'm a fan of board games / RPG so I look forward to join you and learn!

There is a nice board games store called Xenomorphe in rue des Bains 54, 1205 Genève (022 3297052), open Mon-Fri 12.30 AM - 6.30 PM / Sat 11 AM - 5 PM.

Hello fellow gamers ::waves::

I don't suppose any of you play table top roleplay games... like Runequest, Starwars, Paranoia, Earthdawn etc.... or know of any roleplaying groups in Geneva?

I'm a bit rusty (not played for a couple of years) but am dying to reconnect with my love of rolling dice and critical fumbles.. err I mean hits :P

Well, I didn't notice any RPGers at the Joca event, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there were some.

There are some RPG-like board games out that might satisfy your need to crit!  I'm thinking games like Descent , Runebound and  BattleLore.  I didn't see these being played last weekend, but they are infamous for taking up alot of table space (which was at a premium in the small cafe we were at).  They might have these or some other games like them...

Good luck finding some fellow RPGers....if you're up for board gaming, swing by Joca! ;)

Major synchonicity - I'd just opened up Joca.ch in a new tab because I'd written it on my hand at a party last night.

I'm definitely down for some tabletop RPG. Fav universe? Don't judge--Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Just the right mix of SF in a modern-day urban environment BUT with all the riches of super science and time travel.

Is there any kind of fast-motion zero setup campaign we could do at a bar just to beat the bushes a bit?

hello

I participated to the game night organised by joca and it was really nice with differents type of game (like settler of catan, wanted, citadelle.... and others that I don t know)

all the organisers are really friendly and ready to explain all rules in french or english.

this is definitely a good activity.

There is also an event every thursday in a bar in Carouge for board gamers but I don t remember the name of this bar, sorry.

Concerning RPG, as dan mentioned xenomorphe is a rella good shop. I started a D%D quest with other glocals member a year ago but if some other member are interested why not starting a RPG group (it can be D&D, vampire, chtulu....)

Best
