Welcome to Geneva! What kind of things are you looking for in a gym? Do you want to take classes, or one that has access to a swimming pool, or just basic weights/cardio training equipment?

Try Silhouette (http://www.silhouette.ch/en/clubs), they have a few branches around geneva. Or if you want the gym/swimming pool/sauna/hammam package, check out the starling hotel near the airport (http://www.fitness-topform.ch/en/the-facilities.html).

I also saw someone putting an ad at the classifieds section selling his/her gym membership (just search for 'gym' under the goods for sale section).

Some years ago, on my first visit to Geneva, I used to go to Holmes Place and it is (at least was) really good gym. But the price seems to be really expencive...

Oh I almost forgot to mention. There is also one called 'Keep Cool' fitness centre in Ferney (http://keepcool.fr/ferney). I think it cost EUR 29.90 a month or something, which I think is quite reasonable if you don't mind coming from geneva. Only 10 mins drive from the UN.

If you are interested in The fitness by California, you can send me a private message as I'm leaving Geneva and I'm trying to sell my 7 months remaining subscription with quite a nice deal. There are centers in Eaux vives, Champel and Acacias. 

Harmony.ch is quite good. But their short term contracts are insanely expensive. I don't understand why gyms in Geneva seem to not want to do short term contracts. 

Here is a good trick though. The pool at Vernets has a 20CHF/month deal on their little gym. It has basic equipment and cardio equipment. The only thing is the hours are not ideal but if you combine it with a 20CHF/month for the pool then 40CHF gets you the pool and gym. Quite good.
