Looking for a gynecologist in france

Hello,

I am looking for a gynecologist in france, near geneva. Does anyone has a good suggestion?

Unfortunately my insurance does cover the cost in switzerland and I have the impression that the cost for a simple check will be extremely high.

Thanks!

Christine, I can send you a list of whom you may want to avoid. I have yet to find a respectful and reliable gynecologist on the French side of the border (Saint-Julien/Annemasse area). A friend of mine who needed an OB/GYN last year when she was pregnant had similar problems and she still has not found the right person either...

FYI -- The cost for an annual GYN exam in France is 28 euros. Some gynecologists may charge you 55 if you are a new patient, but they must warn you before they examine you, which they typically "forget" to do. Just make it clear at the very beginning that you only want a basic examination (with a "frottis", i.e., a Pap smear). One local doctor recently decided to do a (very rough) ultrasound without asking or telling me anything (I obviously figured it out, but it was too late to protest), then he gleefully charged me 150 euros. I did not have supplemental "mutuelle" coverage at that point, so that bill irked me. The doctor did, too...

Celice, thanks for the info!

I would appreciate if you pm the list.

Do you have any experience how much they charge in switzerland? It has many more options there but I think the cost will be much more than 28 or 55 or even 150(?) euros.

Dr. Ejnes in Ferney-Voltaire has his reputation and is very good, although he is very busy, so it could take 2 months to get an appointment.  I believe a visit+ smeer test costed about 70 euros 2 years ago.

I am not sure he speaks English but worth giving his office a call on 00 33 4 50 97 07.

You can easily get from GVA to Ferney by bus.  Ferney is small.  If possible, I would recommend an appointment in the morning to avoid late afternoon delays.  Hope this helps.
