Looking for french lessons

Hello!

Goal is to to speak french fluently by the end of this summer. Traditional ways of studying are not working good for me :) so far i've tried:

Books and audio courses - very boring

Group courses - not effective (have to admin, group was huge), wrong focus of priorities (who cares about that second muted E in some case of passe compose? i don't)

Talking with french buddies - good, but not enough

Tandem - lack of motivation (no monies involved), you have to teach your language (basically instead of money you exchange your time). But that was clearly the best so far

Watching movies/shows in french - the fact that for some reason subtitles do not correspond to what they actually say drive me nuts :D I am not good enough yet to watch without subtitles

French news radio - boring, hard to understand

So far i really enjoyed:

Listening to french songs with lyrics and singing them

Tandem

Talking in known contexts (shop, gym, friends etc)

So i am searching for either one-on-one lessons, or lessons in a small group (not more that 5 people) with focus on spoken french. If you are experienced teacher or maybe have your opinion on the subject, write here or PM me

Hello Sergey,

I am not an experienced teacher, but have taught French to children while living in the U.K. I am not working at the moment and have some time to teach French if you wish.

I am a native French and know about the difficulties foreigners face in learning the language.  If you need  conversation in day-to-day French I can assist.

Let me know when you would like us to meet for a test. I am curretly staying in Annemasse,  France right at the border of Moillesulaz, but come into Geneva almost every day.

Regards,

Marie

Thanks for your response. I have finally found a full time job, so would not have any spare time for assisting or teaching. You should be able to find experienced teachers, there are plenty around town. If you have problems finding one I can connect you with some.

Cordialement.

hey sergey,

if possible get a part time job or do volunteer work in french. you sound like a practical kind of person so you may need lengthy exposure to a french speaking environment to motivate your brain to use and remember french. i strongly believe in chomsky's idea about there being a language organ in the brain. to switch this on you need to be MOTIVATED.  to be motivated you need to throw yourself into a situation where learning french is perceived by the mind as being ESSENTIAL. there is no motivation in reading a book or going to a group class and then going home and speaking russian or english or whatever. but if you are working in an environment that requires french, even simple french, you will learn really quickly. classes are great if they motivate you (im a language teacher) but they are useless if they dont! just my opinion. i did the french diploma in the Ecole de langue et de civilisation at the university. if time is short  you could do the summer course there and get TOTAL immersion for three months. u learn quickly because its the only way to speak to everyone, otherwise you end up missing out on things. it works.

bonne chance:o) good luck my friend!

Hello Maru,

As mentioned,  I am not an experienced teacher but I can teach  conversational French to foreigners since I know the difficulties they experience. As a matter of fact I was approached to teach French at the Université Populaire of Geneva.

If you wish we can meet with your friends and discuss the modalities. Let me know when you are available.

Regards,

Marie

Hello Sergey,

I just received a message from Maru. I  do not know whether you know each other. He is also asking for French lessons.

As mentioned to you, I am not an experienced teacher but can be of good  conversational French. I was recently approached to teach French to foreigners at the Université Populaire of Geneva during a visit to the Salon du Livre.

So if you are serious about it I can spare time to meet you both.

Regards,

Marie
