Looking for insider advice on successful US non-immigrant visa application

Hi

Is anyone familiar enough with US immigration policies to give insider insights on getting a non-immigrant visa for the US - especially in case of a first refusal?

Many thanks for your input!

If you get denied the first time, asked them what additional documents do they need.

Thanks Gerald for your input.

Based on the assumption that they only grant a visa to those they judge will not go to the country to stay or work illegally, I am looking for insights that help present a case in best conditions (where proactively manage any unnecessary 'suspicions' they may have).

Maybe that implies paying for services of a specialised lawyer.

It is also tricky that the authorised duration of your stay is known only once landed - it needs to be approved by immigration officers at the entry airport.

With a 10-year visa, how often you can go and how long you can stay each time (based on what criteria) is something that is not clear to me.
