Looking to socialize, offer support to people with dogs

Hi,

I moved to Geneva in April and I am a proud pet parents. My lovely golden labrador is home with my parents, a family home where he's been raised and is showered with attention 24/7. It was hard for me to not get him here with me knowing he will be alone while I am at work and that he suffers from acute separation anxiety. The bummer is I am extremely fond of dogs. So here is my offer — if someone wishes to socialize with their dogs, go on hikes, play, walk, have conversations about life and the tyranny of it ;) you just have to drop a hello.

Look forward to connecting with a set of wonderful people.

Good week ahead. Also here is my kid — Posto :)

Hey Diya,

There is this group called "Hiking with dogs" or something. They organize a hike once a month. Never been to it, but should be relatively easy hikes, with dogs as a bonus. I'm sure people would let you pet their doggies :)

I miss mine too...needy brat, but oh so cute...

for a more regular fix, you get a dog I guess..?

jokes aside, I suppose you know that different breeds and/or dog personalities are more independent...it's also how you train them. But they can never be as independent as cats.

cats are also somewhat trainable, contrary to popular belief...but unfortunately they don't fetch rubber duckies from the lake...

Well, I didn't train my dog to stay alone. We sort of spoilt him and in retrospect I see the challenges. However getting another dog while I am posted here is not on the radar. :) Ah, and I am too much of a dog person - the fetch, the cuddle and the droopy eyes and ears... They are just lovely :)

Thanks a lot, sounds like a fabulous idea. I dont have a car, I am assuming these two shelters are do'able via public transport. If you are game, I would love to do this :)

Will PM you my number,

Diya
