They should call the Lost and Found 0900 300 300 and tell them which bus they took and the timing of their trip.

If a good samaritan has reported the item to the bus driver, then this should be with the TPG transport office.  There's a small fee to pick up, but I should think that's the least of their worries.

I once left my hat on the bus and after quickly calling this number, the dispatcher arranged for me to meet the bus driver at the busstop where I got off and was happily reunited with my hat later in the day.

Good luck.
