I agree that this is one of Garcia Marquez's best novels. There is an English bookstore near Place du Cirque (Off the Shelf). As for the film, in my opinion, it is one of the worst adaptation of a good novel (all good actors but the script and direction were unable to compensate the immaginative rendition of the novel).
