Mens Wedding Band

Hi all,

Although it has only be 4 years since our wedding, it seems that I had chubby fingers back then my wedding ring no longer stays on my finger but falls off several times a day.  Rather than lose it I intended to buy another ring and keep this one for later in life when my fingers will inevitably get chubby again :)

I have had a quick look around the Geneva high street and not found to many options for mens wedding bands, and those that I did were CHF1000+.  I'm only looking to spend CHF400-500 on a simplish mass produced kind of wedding band.  Not sure how many ppl may have purchased wedding bands over here but if anyone can point me in the right direction or throw a few names into the mix it would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Manor - the "Christ" jewelery dept should have simple bands. Not sure on prices.

Haha, thanks Rena for the reassurance, because somehow I think that cost is beyond me ;)

Why not try Migros ?  They have jewellery counters at their supermarkets at Cornavin, Charmilles, Balexert and several other outlets.

And if you have a Migros customer card, you’ll collect points as well.

I would try Migros and Goldhaus but I have to be careful not to offend my lovely wife - I sense there is a thin line between buying something affordable and something for 100chf that does not do justice to our undying love and calls our marriage cheap :)  But you are right, I could go and have a look one night after work and perhaps find something that fits the bill, then suggest it later.

Considering the price of gold is around 40chf per gram I was thinking I might switch to Silver or something else grey in colour that is a bit cheaper and more trendy, I can always swap back to gold later in life when my fingers get chubby again.

You can have rings made smaller or larger.  Lots of people find they need to do this as they get older.  And if you ‘downsize’ now, you can still have the ring enlarged later if need be.

When down-sizing you pay for the cost of the work (less, maybe, a small contribution for the removed metal).  If you enlarge, you also pay for the cost of the additional gold, of course.

If you opt for this solution, I would recommend that you visit a couple of the smaller jewellery shops – not Migros or Goldhaus – for a quote, because they are more likely to be interested in what is, in fact, a small job.

All the best, Ritchie

There's a jeweler right across from Escada in Rive. I forget the name, but, its right on the corner , you can't miss it. They have a good selection and more or less in your price range.

Hope this helps,

best,

Diego

Hi,

This idea won't work for the "later in life" idea, but you could always just have it sized now. Maybe later in life, you could both buy new rings, as some people do to celebrate the big anniversaries. Or at least in the US people do... ;.) Also, remember that a ring's snugness depends on the ambient temperature and what you've eaten, among other things - temporary swelling changes your ring size, temporarily... ;.)
