I came across this site while looking for flats in Geneva. Seriously, How can students afford these?? I will do an internship semester from January to June and I am thinking that I might not be able to do it because of the high rents (I cannot just pay rent and live on air!). I was super excited to do this internship but now I am completely stressing out :(
So how do you people find affordable flats? Share the knowledge!

Try and share an appartment with another intern, or rent in France (only 15mins to Gva centre)... a one bed or studio will cost chf 1000 to 1500pm...you may find a 2 bed for that.

I'd be down to pay around 9-1000. I guess I'll have to live on the poverty line :(

I was acutally thinking of NYC first but I knew it would be too much hassle with getting a visa and housing etc so that's why I decided Geneva would be better. So I thought lol. No, but I'll try to sort everything out. I got some pretty good emails and tips from some members! I also have more than a month until I start so that should buy me some time to look around.
Oh that sucks.. You can borrow my papi whenever needed! lol

Look at sharing. Many big companies and UN offices have internal message boards that make it easy for interns to find each other and rent together.

Join the facebook group for UN Interns - there is often housing posted for interns on there for 600 chf per month and upwards for a room in a shared apartment - Well I've had friends who have paid this 
... and you will have an awesome time in Geneva and most interns will be in the same boat as you and as with anything, it is what you make it! And will probably be just a bit better with daddy's money
