Moving back to US - charity or company that will take our furniture?

It looks like the cost of moving our furniture and other goods back to the US is quite a bit more than the value of the furniture.

Is there a charity or a company that will just take our things that we haven't disposed of or sold, give them to a charity?

One thing is that they would probaby have to have an external elevator lift since we're on the 6th floor, and the elevator is quite small.

Any advice appreciated!

More specifically, is there a company who can take our furniture out of our 6th floor apartment and either transport it to a charity, or dispose of it.  The most important aspect is to have the items removed on a specific date.  This may involve hauling the items down 7 flights of stairs (in combination with a small elivator), or removing the items through the balcony with a moving lift.

I also understand that we may be able to leave the items on the sidewalk for disposal by the city, but we may have too much for this (or items, like a kind size mattress, too large).

Would local moving companies be able to do this?  Is there a recommended company in the Geneva area?

I have used The Salvation Army before who were very good. They even took a couple of things apart for us.

Just make sure to make an appointment well in advance.... they are often fully booked. I had to throw away a few things in my last move because they were not able to collect them ...
