Has anyone moved to Geneva after loosing his Frontalier working permit G ?

I need some advice on determining if I could legally and should move to Geneva before I do so.

My permit G has expired and I am on Chomage in France since November 2014. I have worked 4 years full time in Geneva and it has been quite difficult to find a new position since November 2014. Many jobs require "Swiss residency proof" that's why I would like to increase my chance of finding a job by moving to Geneva canton from France.

Can I live legally in Geneva so I can be on Swiss chomage until I find a job in Switzerland ? for how long can I be on Swiss chomage ?

I would like to consider all options before I move to Geneva. thanks for your suggestions,
