Museums / Art shows in Geneva

Hey!
Since the weather isn't that good here in Geneva at the moment, I was wondering if someone has some suggestions of museum, art shows etc. to visit here. Or something I really shouldn't miss during the weekdays.
I couldn't find anything like this in any other thread or guide.
I'm very thankful for all ideas/tips since the good weather isn't supposed to come until next week. :)

Hello Sarah, don't want to discourage you, but even if you find something in Geneva, you realize it takes 5 mins to see it. The exhibition spaces here are quite small, and not so interesting. Culture content is the biggest thing that is lacking in Geneva from my point of view. The only thing I found satisfiying are smaller, alternative cinemas, like:

http://www.cinema-bio.ch/

Let us know if you discover something else! :)

Good luck

Although I partly agree with Maja - Geneva is not Paris or London and museums are at the scale of the town - you can still find culture and the public museums are free!

If you want to discover Geneva's past, go to Maison Tavel:

http://www.ville-ge.ch/mah/index.php?content=6.

It is not only a museum but it shows how upper class people lived in the 16th-17th centuries in Geneva.

The Musée d'art et d'histoire contains some nice collections and allows you to navigate from the ancient times to the 20th century in about half a day with a nice cafeteria:

Although it is a paying exhibition, don't miss the Pfund expo. This guy is a real genius and unfortunately failed to be recognized as a true artist due to his activities in graphism.

Also, if you like modern art you could pay a visit to the MAMCO:

If you are into history of books a visit at the Bodmeriana collection ist a must see:

http://fondationbodmer.ch

The entry is unfortunately costs 15 CHF as this is a private collection but it contains unsuspected treasures and is known by connoisseurs.

You see, Geneva is not that bad. Most people despise it by misknowledge and it needs some time to be discovered. Here everything is discreet - except the new rich who love to exhibit their wealth.

Enjoy your visit!
