Preferable off the shelf as I need it pretty soon.
Any suggestions?

For those who might not know, a “smoking” is a dinner jacket & trousers.

Do you mean a jacket? If so, it is called a "dinner jacket" in English.
Hopefully someone might now respond but sorry, we have no idea.
If you are a very small size [that is ca. 55kgs] you can borrow my OH's!

Ha Ritchie!
Beat you to it by half a second!
Enjoy the sunshine
thanks Sheila, but I'm about twice that size :-) so that's not going to fit. I had one but the kilo's over the last couple of years made it to small.

Well, I don't even imagine I might win them all!
As for the sunshie, I've been preparing my Post Office payments -- but at least the bright light meant I could more or less read what the damage is.
Enjoy the weekend, R.

You could also trawl the charity shops, particularly the Red Cross “Vet” outlets. With a bit of luck, you could pick up a bargain.
Also, there used to be an Italian tailor in rue de la Servette (about half-way between Cornavin and “Servette Ecole”) who had off-the-peg as well as bespoke dress wear for gents.
All the best, R.

Martin said he didin't want to do that. R.
On the question of cost, I would suggest paying a little more for quality cloth and cut.
There’s nothing worse than a limp jacket and crumpled sleeves which make a man look like a street musician who’s been brought in from the rain to substitute for a sick violinist in a palm court quartet.

Ebay UK has a lot of choice at reasonable prices.
thanks all for the suggestion, language corrections etc.etc. ;-) I've found a nice one at the Hugo Boss store - which will be finished in a week (small adjustments etc.etc.) Not cheap but problems evaded ;-) Ritchie, i wanted to get made to measure, but it takes unfortunately too long (my own fault for waiting to long). This is a good 2nd best option. Have a nice day!!!!

Just for the jacket and trousers it will set you back about 800. At a shirt and some extra's and you go over 1k. Great thing is you can mix and match it, and use it as a normal suit as well. Pretty nice stuff. So in the end ended up with spending a lot more, these smart marketing people ;-)

"add a shirt " it should be.....
It’s always wise to have at least one spare dress shirt, so look out for marked-down items in the January sales when you can find some real bargains.
Best, R.
