Noisy restaurant downstairs, what can I do?

Hello all,

Does anyone have experience with this?

I've recently moved into a lovely flat above a restaurant. The previous tenant said there was little noise, but I find the noisy quite annoying: music, chairs and tables dragging until 1:30 am every night.

I talked to the owner, who's very friendly, but he said nobody ever complained, so there's nothing he cand do.

I talked to the regie and they also said there's nothing they can do, I took the flat and that's it.

Can I log a formal complain to some Geneva authority?

Tks,

George

I can't give you specifics, but I'm pretty sure there's a rule until what time restaurants are allowed to have a (noisy) terrace open. A restaurant I've been to a few times in Eaux-Vives would always ask us to go inside and/or be quieter around 10pm, because otherwise neighbours would complain.

I hope someone else can be more helpful.
