Daniel - put it out for the hard rubbish collection ? Usually the mairie website will have the dates of these collections.

NO do not do that. Take it to any electronics shop instead they will take it for proper disposal suitable for electronics. It's mandatory, part of the eco tax embedded in electronics' prices in Switzerland.

It's forbidden to assimilate electronics with trash and you could (and should) get a fine. Electonics contain many parts that can be reused or recycled and it is your responsibility to take them to a recycling point, the closest electronics store being the easisest.

I also have a TV to dispose of but have no means of getting it to a store, so can anyone suggest another solution, please.

If you're having another TV delivered, the store delivering it should also pick up the old TV at no charge. (Unless you aren't having a new TV delivered.)
