One-time art or cooking classes?

I have a traditions of treating my mother to a course in art, cooking, or wine for her birthday. Ex: Pasta-making/wine tasting in Tuscany, Thai cooking in Bangkok, and all sorts of different courses in the U.S. We make a mother-daughter outing out of it.

Since she'll be visiting me in Genva this summer, I was hoping to come up with something fun to do here or nearby. Maybe chocolate making or something? Any ideas? We'll also be going on a Vienna, Prague, Budapest trip at the end of her stay, so any suggestions there would work, too.

Thanks!

I can't think of anything specific really. I expect that you want to do something that is related to the region, so learning how to brew beer near Geneva wouldn't work.

So for Switzerland/Geneva that would be chocolate or cheese, I guess. I know that in Gruyere there are 2 cheese museums and nearby a chocolate one, but as far as I know none of them organize workshops. It may still be worth contacting them though. Also check with the Tourist Office here in Geneva.

If you're willing to travel to Burgundy (3 hours from Geneva) you could have a look at a wine tasting course (for example at the Ecole des Vins de Bourgogne), but you have to be lucky with the timing.

In Prague you may be able to do something with Bohemian Christal, or possibly with Mozart and opera singing (many of Mozart's operas were first performed at the Prague opera house).

Hi I saw a brochure for Ecole Migros in Geneva and Balexert the other day and they had some interesting cookery/art classes on over the summer and not too expensive either, might be worth a look.
