Online print media in Swiss Romande?

The Swiss romande newspapers (TDG, Le Temps) have frustrating paywalls, while rts.ch is all audio or video content.

Are there some free website with Swiss news in French and in (readable) article form ? Like the Swiss equivalent of the BBC or abc.net.au. Do the French have something like this?

Swissinfo.ch delivers news in the Swiss languages, English, and others.

Their morning email is quite decent, but it’s not the most timely. So if you’re looking for being instantly up to date, the subscription to the on-line tdg.ch is probably more worth it.

I find that the "RTS Info" mobile application is quite good. You can read the texts or watch the videos. It is my experience that only in few cases you miss something by not watching the videos.

Thanks everyone, I guess the BBC (and the ABC, the Australian version) are really quite unique websites. Am thinking back to the US, and the closest thing there is NPR.

RTS is good, but the absence of quality print news is a glaring hole (especially as we all pay a lot of money for it! Billag pays for RTS).

I'm quite surprised that the French don't have a quality government-run news outlet.
