First tip, don't do it again, will be more painful the second time.

I am not sure if said numbers are accurate, it depends on the canton. But I would guess a fine from about CHF 400.00 to CHF 600.00, an additional penalty depending on your income for 15 days (for an income of CHF 5'000.00 this could be around CHF 1'500.00 and suspended driving licence for one up to three months.

Alan is pretty accurate.

Here's a prior thread on the subject: "http://www.glocals.com/forums/geneva/where-how-in-geneva/speeding-fines-89024.htm#msg_197149"

Post number 63 has a chart that has all the particulars.

Good luck!

The link above is very useful, worth a copy and paste.

I had trouble with this last year, my offence was similar. The speed limit dropped to 100 as I rolled on at 130 something. You'll need to go to the police station for a friendly chat and to complete paperwork. They might recommend that you take a course costing a few hundred francs on a Sunday, to learn all about Swiss speeding regulations. This is not compulsory.

I was banned for one month and fined about 1000, if I remember rightly. I was pretty confused about the procedure, so called thE number on the letter I received. They're pretty nice and will talk you through it. Before they make the decision on bans and fines you are given the opportunity to write and explain yourself. I don't know if they reduce the punishment based on this letter, but it's worth a try.

Hope this helps, good luck!
