Paperwork for living in Ferney

Hello,

Im looking to find somewhere to live in Ferney and was wondering if anyone knows what is required paper wise if the place is not a sublet i.e. what the regie needs?

I have a temporary work contract in Geneva (but no payslips as I have just started work) and I'm an EU citizen.

Also if anyone has any good tips on how to find places in Ferney that would be very helpful!

Thanks very much!

/E

Hello,

Normally, when you rent an appartment a landlord wishes to secure his/her money. He asks you to present several documents like a photocopy of a passport, an employment contract, etc. In France, when the landlord chooses you, but he/she still worries about the money, he can ask you for ''caution'', i.e., a signed document in which a third person states that he/she will cover your liabilities, when you are not able to pay them. Best, ES

Thank you Eryk! Do you think then that a temporary contract will be ok as long as I can get a 'caution'? (and could a caution be from someone that is not a resident in France? I know someone in Switzerland that could guarantee me).

And do you have any idea of what estate agents in Ferney/ France are good to contact?

Thanks again!

If you have a caution solidaire from a trusted person then everything should be all right. I don't know anything about real estate agents, because I was always looking for private persons who offer appartments, e.g., paruvendu.fr. Best, ES

Thanks very much Eryk for your replies, its good to know that I at least stand a chance of getting somewhere that is not a sublet whereas in Geneva I don't see that happening with my temporary work contract.

Thank you for your help!
