Parking Geneva... Help....

Hi,

I just arrived in Geneva and I am currently renting a room in a shared flat. I am not on the lease yet and therefore I don't think I can apply for the Macaron yet. The flat is situated in Plainpalais. I was wondering if anybody could share some insights/hints on where I could park (potentially outside the city centre) until I have resolved the issue...

Many thanks in advance

Kind regards

Philipp

There is no place nearby but you still ought to be able to get a macarron from the authorities possibly with the help of the guy on the lease. Companies can gewt parking palces for emplyees living in France.  it is just a matter of taslking to the macarron people.  tried finding a link for them but couldn't but there number shoudl be on all the macorron stickers on the cars parked outside the flat.  Maria. sorry to blow you out but the  airport is  long way from Plainpalais.  Do you live in Geneva or are you still in Nicosia?.  However t^Marias idea is fundamentally good.  All carparks incuding the one in Plainpalais have long term parking agreements.  More expensive than the macarron but better than parking 5 km away.

Maria there is a difference between nasty and gentle sarcasm - mine was gentle sarcasm and it is true that he did say out of town but the airport is on the other side of twon from Plainpalais and those of us who live on the left bank are frightened of crossing the river.   So I will not apologise as no nastiness was intended but before i make a further comment, are you Greek or Turkish Cypriot?

So as a bona fide member of the European community (AND an ex colony)  you must be capable of understanding English humour - the only exception to this requirement for members of the EU are the French who deemed to be incapable

of understanding the English, English humour, English wine, cheese etc etc

I'm afraid that you cannot apply for a macaron cause you are not leaving officially in Planpalais.

Ask Planpalais authorities first.

Than go to park your car on rue de Laussanne, on the way to Versoix. Just after WTC/ OMC are places available for max 15h, but I always parked there my cars for weeks.

Try "Rue des bossons", "Avenue du bois de la chapelle" and around these two streets in Petit-Lancy...you can find some free car park!

Good luck ;)

There is lots of free parking (white boxes rather than blue) around and beyond Place des Nations. From there it is easy to get a bus back into town.

Try Avenue de la Paix and Avenue de l'Ariana. That's exactly what I did when I first arrived.

Paul,  English wine ? What are you talking about ? Bordeaux sold at Harrod's do not qualify as English wine, as an fyi... As for fermented grape-based liquid substances produced in the south of England, you surely have another word for it, haven't you?
