I hired a car from them for 2 weeks and yes they are cheap for a basic no frills car. Watch out for mileage limites, which they sting you for and make sure the car is clean when you take it back - otherwise they tend to charge you for cleaning. Helpful staff but not particualrly friendly - Geneva office.

I have used them twice for a half day rental of a truck for moving some furniture, and have not had any problems. I agree with the above poster that you should definitely watch out for mileage limits and make sure to fill the tank up, but that is pretty standard stuff. The staff is not friendly but not mean, and I have not had any problems with hidden charges or anything like that. I would recommend them especially if you just want it for a day to move stuff.

I've used them several times without problems. Same advice as other posters.

Just hired a minbus from them.  signed contract today to pick up on Saturday evening.  As they are closed Sa they have already given me the key!! Thoguht a nice touch. Obviously they have people checking fairly regularly to see the system is not abused.  

Service I found friendly eventhough I am not looking for that and very helpful.

The only downside is that there is no zero option on the insurance policy.  For and extra 20 francs I was able to reduce my exposure from 2000 to 1000 francs.  I keep my fingers crossed that I return the car in good condition.

Regarding cleanliness they asked thatn I return with the inside clean - so i will take a lot of newsp'apers with me.

The kilometer charge.  It is very clear on the website and was explained to me again.  i did not enquire whether there was any flexibility in the options.  I have taken 100 km and will pay 0.80 francs for each attitional km.  I have to do 140 km before I lose out.  And yes I will bring it back full but that is standard.

And regarding pre existing damage, I was to0ld to check and photograph and damage.  i will do this and send them an sms if need be

They are cheap but have a high dammage fee (don't know the exact expression). There was a forum entry recently were people were very angry as their credit card was immediatelly debited after some tiny dammage.

I work with some handy men/movers they are I think not to expensive (around 100 chf per hour for a van with 2 guys..)

O.k, thanks guys for all the replies, looks like they can go on the list then. The only thing to note is the obviously the lack of any real liability reduction options. This will actually be my first time driving in the city of Geneva itself, better to be over insured than under...

Hired a Van in their Nyon branch for a half day a few weeks ago. In general no problems, though I went over my 50km limit so was charged extra per km. I was aware of this before I started so no probs, just had to calc it into my price. 

Agree with previous posters comments. Patrick Locations is a cheap service, but there is also the added risk of a high excess on most vehicles - a small bump could cost you the full excess and I'm sure they won't even repair most of them - nice way to top up their account. ;)

For short instances, I'd recommend mobility.ch. I've used a van for 3h, 20km, paid CHF25.
