Permit valid from moment of application?

I have an L permit that runs out next week when I finish my teaching job. I have applied to renew it as I will be doing some summer work for the next 2 months for a different employer, I applied around a month ago.


No sign of life from the office population and no response to my emails or calls regarding progress. 


I heard that as soon as the application for a work permit has been submitted you can begin work. Does anyone know if this is correct? Doesnt seem like I will have it in my hand before I start the new job..


Any advice appreciated!

I also applied for prolonging my L and In my commune (Vaud) said that it could take 3 weeks to 3 months to have my permit in my hands after I applied and I can start work in this period without any problem. But its kind of strange right? What if they will not approve? I have strange feeling from that too.... but seems I will just starts to work as my contract is from 1th august

Hello Catherine and Andrea,


It looks like you're from the UK respectively Slovakia? Provided you have Swiss work contracts, you may start / continue working as long as you submitted the extension applicatin in time and the authorities don't advise diffrently (which they shouldn't).
