Procter and Gamble

Hello everybody!

I was wondering if anyone is familiar with the best way to get your foot in the door with P&G? I am unfortunately not eligible for an internship as I graduated in 2006, but am now looking to go into brand management. I received a degree in Public Relations and have had a previous internship with Boeing. I would like to eventually advance my studies but I need to work first. I also have branding and event management experience. So does anyone know what my first step in the process should be? or maybe know of some good schools programs that specialize in that? Any help is greatly appreciated!

it's the same issue over and over again. as a usa citizen you have no right to employment here in CH. unless you qualify for a work permit. which, unfortunately you don't, unless you marry a swiss, or marry your boyfriend, who is here working with a valid work permit. you might try looking for some kind of a job within the UN or NGO's where permits are not an issue! one would think you would have looked in to these matters beforehand. there are lots of threads here on this issue for americans with many suggestions and ideas. of course you could always continue as a full time student ( french? ) and legally get part time work.

Thank you for bringing that up Epicure: I will have an L visa and be able to stay here up to 18 months. I have the right to apply and if accepted I am involved in a program that gives me an automatic L visa. Of course I did look into all of these matters before hand, but it is always easier to actually be in the country which you are applying to jobs in. I have read some of the other threads, but most of the information I am already familiar with. But Epicure if you have a job for me I'm all ears!

You might have probably already found the answer, in case not: the way to apply to P&G is simple, i.e. online, fill in the application and you'll go through the process...no other way :)!

Just to reiterate what Elisewin said, the only way (truly, unless you are already the CEO of a Fortune 500 and they are trying to poach you!) is to do their online application. As a word of precaution, P&G usually only hires "in region," meaning that they won't offer you a job in Geneva as an American, at least not off the bat. You would have to do an assignment in the States first, and then after 2-3 years you could ask for a transfer to Europe.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I agree with what Epicure said, your best bet is probably to go the UN route as they offer carte de légitimations for non-Swiss/EU, therefore taking care of the visa problem.

Good luck!
