Public Transportation to Ski?

Hi Everyone,

I arrived in Geneva a couple of weeks ago. I'm an avid skiier, so I was totally excited about the prospect of skiing in the Alps! The problem I'm running into is that, without a car, I can't seem to figure out how to get out of the city and onto the slopes. I know that there are probably trains that go to Chamonix, for example, but once that happens I don't know how close I am to the town/hotels. As you can tell, I'm very confused.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi Nora, several possibilities:

Verbier (my favourite): train from Geneva to Les Chables (stop next to the sklift)

Chamonix (Les Grand Montets, next to the ski lift) etc.: Ski bus/Gare routiere http://212.203.98.98/WD140AWP/WD140AWP.EXE/CONNECT/GRweb

Villars: Train from Geneva to Aigle, bus to the ski lift

Or the cheapest solution: The famous International Ski club of Geneva www.scig.ch which goes every week end to different locations in France.

Happy to provide more information

There is also the buses that go to various locations from Gare Routiere, like for example the one to Morzine/Avoriaz - 70chf for the return trip including day ski pass.
