Public Transports from France to Geneva

Hi all,

I will rent a studio in France, Prévessin (ch de Magny), when conducting my internship at the W.H.O. from January 2013 to the middle of June.

I wonder if you know how the public transports operates on this route? I got the information that it would take around 15 min. or so with bus F (Ferney-Voltaire/Cornavin station). But I can't seem to find a timetable online.

Do you know if it goes frequently and if it goes late at night/weekends too?

Warm regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

It will indeed take 15 minutes on the F bus. However it goes from the center of Ferney, not through Prevessin, so it'll take you another 15 minutes to walk to the bus stop. There is a bus that goes through Prevessin (the 'O' bus) but you'd then have to change to the F and I don't know if the connections are any good.

The F goes every half an hour during the day, more at commuter times, less in the evening. Runs til 11 week nights and 2am Friday / Saturday I think. Full timetable at www.tpg.ch (the night buses have a separate timetable).

In case you are working out whether to get a car, it would take you at least as long to drive, assuming you go during rush hour.

Thank you so much adam_jeff and hay_  for your kind replies! Smile

I guess the fear of being isolated in rural France was a bit exaggerated.

Regards,

Chris

You might also think of buying a second-hand bicyvle.  They're cheaper in France than in CH.

For night-owls there's the noctambus on week-ends. I think it goes through prevessin.

But I certainly second the recomendation of getting a bike. It's frequently the quickest way to get around.
