Hi I also wanted a labrador and I read a lot about dogs.

So i must ask you: how come your puppy is only 6weeks?

They normally don't separate puppies from their mother this young. They should be adopted from 8 weeks minimum to 12 weeks ideally... Where did you adopt your labrador?

I hope you find the training and the vet.

Hi All,

I got this puppy from Slovakia as my family bread Labradors and vet told me that the puppy is perfectly healthy when I was getting passport for her.  I was traveling 12 hour in the car with my puppy and she was great not a single problem.  Now she met my cat and they making lots of mess together :w00t:

I hope I did not do a bad think to buy a six weeks old puppy but she looks very happy and she is busy to investigating new home.  She cried a bit in night but only a little which I am very surprise. I am of work to make sure that she is ok hoping to gave her the best care I can.

Just need to work out now where can i get her trained.

It is perfectly OK to take a puppy away at 6 weeks as long as they are a healthy weight and it is not expected to come in contact with many other dogs until they get a little older. I would keep them away from other dogs until they have had all shots and at least 10 weeks old.

You can start training at any age with just yourself and the dog. Although most dogs will very HIGHLY distractible at a very young age so do not get frustrated if they are not understanding what you want them to do. Just keep the sessions short and always make sure they are positive training sessions so the dog will want to continue. Also be sure to use a treat that is of high value (i.e. it tastes really good, like cheese or a small piece of hot dog) so the dog is more willing to work with you. Although be sure to use only small pieces because you want the dog focused on you instead of eating the treat (also the diarrhea from too many won't be pleasant either).

Google clicker training and positive reinforcement and you will find a lot of information on how to train a dog. Although when he is 6 months old I would recommend going to a training class focused on positive reinforcement. Even if you know how to train a dog, at the very least the class will give you a lot of distractions to overcome and help socialize the dog so hopefully he will grow to be the perfect dog.
