Quiet place to study?
Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any good ideas on places to study that are reasonably quiet. Preferably something that's open late as I'm not much of a morning person. :-)

Cheers,
Matt

Member tiffany is pulling together a group of folks who need a quite place to study in, and we'll go there together to study (each person focusing on his/her stuff), to keep it interesting.

I suggest you contact her - she did good reasearch on places.

I used to study at starbucks (the one in Rive). in the morning or after 6 is pretty quiet and they don't kick u out. Avoid it in the weekends thou (way too many people). Sometimes I went to the Geneva Library (the one behind confederation center and stayed there for hs ... but they close at 5pm.

In summer I used to study along the lake on some of the rocks after Geneva Plage (my favourite place) but I guess it's too cold now!

Well, I'd advise going the CMU (Faculte de Medecine) in Champel (address: 9 av. de champel / bus 3 or 5). The library there is open from Monday to Friday 8h-22h, Saturday 9h-18h and Sunday 14h-18h.
I used to go there there to study for my exams when I was in College as it is VERY quiet!

Work hard!!!!

Basically you can go to any University Library. There are many specialized libraries and some are calmer than others. Personally, as I study law, I would go to Unimail library (Blvd Carl Vogt) or the IUHEI library (WTO building).

All University of Geneva libraries are public, both I described also have newspapers and magazines and the one at Unimail have open wireless connection (but take care of your notebook!).

Get the 2 Gig card from Sunrise, with a free UMTS/EDGE/GPRS card (Sierra Wireless 850) that comes with a 2 years subscription. With this, you also get free access to all Sunrise wireless locations (such as Starbucks) for 200 hours per month. VERY EASY TO INSTALL. I really recommend it.

This beats the hell out of the Swisscom "Mobile Unlimited" that give you only 1 Gig per month, for 75 CHF.

Hello,

Does anyone know if the comments above are still true? I'm looking for somewhere to study in Geneva thats open most of the day and has internet access. Does anyone know of any libraries other than the one behind the confederation centre?

Any suggestions are much appreciated!

Thanks,

Ann

My daughter uses the one in the Parc des Bastions a lot. You have to be very quiet.  No mobiles, talking etc.  There is  internet access
