Hey guys - can someone recommend where to take my glass and plastic bottles in Eaux-Vives (ie. glass wine bottles, soda bottles, etc)? Is there a recycling station in this area?
I tried to take them over to the Coop, but the checkout lady said that they didn't accept glass bottles there. And the Migros around the corner only seems to take plastic milk cartons.
Thanks!

Hi JustAdam,
there a number of Internet pages designed by the state of Geneva with all the information you need, unfortunately only in French:
- How to access the map of the waste collection and consolidation points
- Guide to household waste sorting (Internet pages in French)
- Déchets > Fichier : Sorting household waste.pdf');">Sorting household waste (Brochure in English )

In the Eaux-Vives there are two glass recycling bins on the corner of rue des Vollandes and rue des Cordiers, where there is also a bin for aluminum (cans, silver foil, etc.) and a small bin where you can deposit used batteries. It's only a few yards/metres from the Eaux-Vives Post Office on passage Linck.
The Migros in the rue des Eaux-Vives has separate containers for Pet bottles and milk containers, ditto Denner in rue du Lac which also has a bin for cans. You'll also find recycling bins at the Villereuse Migros and the Coop in Eaux-Vives 2000.
All the best, R.

Recycling in Eaux Vives:
Near the Eaux Vives 2000 Coop and the Villereuse tram stop, you can recycle clear glass, green glass, aluminum and batteries. The clothing bins are down the street (perpendicular to the tram tracks) on a small traffic island corner of Frontenex and Pictet de Rochemont. PET plastic can be recycled inside the Migros past the customer service desk to the right of the checkout lanes (not actually inside the grocery section) or inside the Coop on the other side of the coffee and tea aisles.
Across from the Salvation Army (up the hill half a block from the Roches tram stop, one up from Villereuse), you can recycle PET plastic, green glass, clear glass, batteries, aluminum and clothing. Other items for donation can be put in the bin at the Salvation Army.
Paper can be deposited in the bins between the Villereuse and Roches tram stops on the same side of the street as the Coop. (at least, last time I checked which admittedly was a while ago)
Now if only I knew where I could recycle all these plastic bags!

Most of the charity shops -- including the Salvation Army store you mentioned which, incidentally, can be a treasure trove for anyone who likes to ferret out bargains -- will be very happy to take your plastic bags. Preferably uncrumpled but they won't be refused so long as they are clean.
