Registering address without lease

Hi, I wonder if anyone can helo with this situation.  My girlfriend works at the UN under a CDL.  She moved into my apartment and we now live together.  The regie will not allow the lease to be amended to add her as a tenant unless we are married.  So she is stuck in the situation that she doesn't have any document to prove her address since it is only my name on the lease.  Obviously this can be a problem for registering a vehicle, getting a macaron, changing address at the bank etc.  Does anyone have a similar experience or know how we can get her name added to the lease before getting married?  Thanks!

It's easy, you can not add her name to the lease documents, but you normally should be able to add her name to your mailbox. Because régie has no right to tell you who you can and you can not live with (had a similar situation and this was confirmed by my régie). Once you have "plaquette" with her name address on your mailbox, there's no problem for her to indicate it for any formal affairs in Switzerland.

Then she needs to announce her new address to OCP (Office Cantonal de Genève). This is mandatory. Send or bring them these documents: - a copy of your lease (with your name on it, of course), a letter from you, confirming that she lives with you and this document filled and signed (formulaire C - Annonce de changement d'adresse).

Without her name on the mailbox, she can optionally add "C/O" to her address. Example:

Her Name
C/O Your Name
street
1201 Genève (or whatever your address is)

Thanks Aleksia, that's really helpful.  We'll try that.

Just for the record, the French equivalent of  “c/o”  is “chez”.  For example, “chez Dupont”.  It is also the preferred usage of the OCP, the Post Office, and others.

Good luck!
