Reliable Movers

For those moving from one apartment to another in either Geneva or Suisse Romande, I just wanted to recommend efficient, reliable, and reasonably priced movers (incl. assembling/disassembling furniture, packing, etc.):

In May/June 2010 we moved from Geneva, Switzerland to New York and used Schneider International (www.movingexcellence.com) for this move.  Our move was quoted and overseen by Georg Schneider, one of the owners of Schneider International.  The purpose of this entry is to inform all potential customers about my experience, the extra cost encountered, the damage to my property, and the poor customer service that we received from Schneider International.  In brief:
- Mr Schneider quoted that our belongings would into a 20ft container, his staff  failed to do and he charged  us an additional CHF$2210.00, and  this part of the shipment was delayed.
-They damaged our sofas.  To expand on this at our initial meeting I informed him that my greatest concern in regards to our move was our pale yellow 2 piece nu buck Italian sofa.  Prior to quoting Mr Schneider examined the sofas and I informed him that the nu buck had to be treated in a very careful manner to avoid marking and scuffing.  He informed me that this is the type of thing his company specialised in and explained that his packaging would prevent sweating, marks and any damage.

We also discussed insurance at length and the fact that insurance would be about CHF$2000.00. As we have had nunerous international moves without damage we declined this

Our main shipment arrived in New York and the sofas were scratched and marked.   The scratches and marks were made by Schneider International staff who applied the brown tape and the tape dispenser/s directly onto the nu buck leather - leaving marks and gum, along with deep scratches from the serrated edge of the tape dispensers.   I telephoned Mr Schneider and informed him about the condition of the sofas and how I was disappointed in the way that they were packed and the damage to the sofas. I sent photographs of the damage tp Schneider International  and requested compensation for the damage.

On 17 August 2010 Mr Schneider has informed me that there is nothing he can do because we did not take out the replacement insurance.  I am not happy with this result and believe that Schneider International should reimburse us for the damage caused by their employees.  Further despite positive initial first impressions, clearly Schneider International is not the professional or efficient company they purport to be.  Should anyone require addtional information I would be happy to provide it.
