Relocation Germany to Geneva in covid times

Hello guys,

My partner is moving from Bremen ????????  to Geneva in late February and we were wondering

A. If you know of a reliable company that can do the moving of some boxes and maybe 2-3 heavy items, no furniture

B. If he rents a van and travels to Geneva, is there a point of entry that he needs to stop and declare the stuff or will enyone check the load of the van? We read a lot of articles,  suggesting that there should be a detailed list of items accompanying the load during the moving and that fees might need to be paid.

Thanx for any help

You are legally obliged to export clear with German customs and import clear into CH.

https://www.ch.ch/en/moving-switzerland/

The good news is that the import should be normally not subject to customs duties and VAT if certain conditions met.

You can find info at the above link.

If you are caugh, you may get fined. I don't know if they would be lenient and would let you go. I only have heard one case where someone tried to import a pair of shoes (not the same category as relocatikn which normally should be exempt of import taxes) and they got a heafty fine.

Not a great entrance to CH.

The new employer of your partner might be able to point you towards a reliable relocation company (I'd assume they they still finance part of the relocation and might ask for an invoice unless they directly pay it). These companies then arrange in line with their schedule the pick up (less than a truck load is also standard).
