Remind me pls.. Register / Unregister with the canton

I'm sure I've seen this before but forgot about it..

I moved from GV to VD cantons, understand I need to unregister with Geneva and re-register at Vaud.. Can somebody tell me how it works? Do I need to actually go to an office in Geneva and hand back our B permits?  And in Vaud I guess I'll need to go take passports, birth certificates etc etc ?

Is there a nice easy guide?

You can find the departure form here:

http://www.ge.ch/etrangers-confederes/fr/doc/d4-1-annonce-de-depart.pdf

Don't forget to pay.... it's on the same website and mentioned on the form.

Since you stay in CH, you don't need to pay taxes.

Than.. It all starts. Vaud works differently. You need to go to your commune where you are going to live. Every little village has a office du population. Mail them, or call them, or pass by - and ask them for the forms... Fill them out, give them the needed docs - and they will take care of it... it's quite straight forward

Good luck!

wow .. Seems a little easy for CH .. Thanks!

I noticed the little office in my village but it's open really silly times, think that's a job for the wife!

Yeah... Had the same problem. But they are very friendly at most places. Easiest is just to walk in, introduce oneself and ask what they need.

In the little village I used to live - everybody knows eachother so they went very far to help me out.
Now back in Nyon, it's slightly different but still helpfull. but also went smooth as silk. Remember you have I think 2 weeks, however, i went over that timeframe and there where no problems.

We're in Eysins, just up the road from Nyon and certainly a small village! I'm sure we'll miss the standard deadline, but yeah should be fine.  I heard once we register we'll get some free bin bags (cos we have young kids) so a bit of incentive :)

For those not in VD .. It's 20chf there for 10 small bags. Bin Tax!

Yeah. You get some ( a couple of rolls - but every little helps). We have 3 little ones so we got quite a lot of them. Not sure how it works in Eysin, but we had to pick them up in the building next to Service des Automobiles de Vaud. Also - don't forget to change your car plates. Takes 10 minutes.
