Road cycling in Geneva and the 'hills' nearby...!?

I've just moved to Geneva from Glasgow...and will be bringing my road bike over at the start of February, to start training for the summer cycling season and to try to build strength in my weak Scottish legs.

Is anyone interested in a few Sunday bike rides (anywhere between 40km and 150km, so can be flexible depending on interest) from February onwards? Preferably up and down some hills or around the lake.

I'll be averaging about 20km/h so professionals need not apply!

Let me know,

G :)

Graham - by your speed, I fall in the same category. Let me know if you ride often! I usually do around 40K in the weekdays.

just dug my road bike back out and aim to keep it up over winter too. So by February will be more than happy to find people to bike with again.

Not great on the hills but OK around the lake and nice 40 -80  kms rides.

I've cycled up to Saleve once, very nice ride, especially the descent!

Let me know when you're going, would be very interested to join!

There is a road from Crozet to the Col du Crozet, from there maybe you can find some trails to all the way to Cret de la Neige. I guess it's a bit more challenging than Saleve, but worth giving a try if someone is interested

One thing to consider is riding to somewhere on the railnetwork and catching the train back (or the other way around). For example take the TER from Cornavin to Chambery (about 16 euros) and ride back along lac du Bourget to Geneva. Here is the route I did the other day but in the GVA->CMB direction

Do this in the early morning to avoid the heat and traffic (it does get very very hot in the summer - in the mid to high 30s on some days).

If you ride to le Saleve from Collonges it is very steep

You are better doing a tour via Annemasse and Mont Sion, although the descent via Mont Sion is on a busy road over a couple of km.
