Searching for a public sauna!
I am desperately searching for a public sauna in Geneva for me and my little daughter.

The sauna should have a "Bio-sauna" (45-60 °C heat with appr.. 40-55% humidity) and a swimmingpool with warm water (appr. 25-30 °C).

We are so used to go to the sauna once a week that I do not want to miss that while being in Geneva.

I am grateful for all tipps and advices!

Regards,

Elisabeth

 Thank you for the link.

After checking the website I found out that children are not allowed in the sauna (for whatever reason...). Unfortunately this will not work for me, my daughter is 17 months old.

Thanks anyway - hope to get some more hints for good locations, that allow children to attend.

Best regards

Elisabeth

I think the point they are trying to make is that it is much more difficult for babies/children to regulate their temperature so they might overheat. What is ok for an adult is probably way too much for an infant.

To avoid any possible responsibility, they put a minumum age limit on entrance into the sauna.

Thank you for your thread.

I am a responsible mother, no question about that...

I have attended baby sauna with my child since she is 6 months old and she is completely healthy and enjoys the sauna and the swimming afterwards very much. Thats why I am looking for a bio-sauna (less degrees, more humidity)!

I have rarely seen any age limitations in public saunas yet, although I am a frequent visitor.

Thanks anyways :o)

I might be wrong but I think that bringing a baby in a sauna is forbidden for health reasons.
If they forbid it in Bain de Cressy I would trust them: that place depends on the University Hospital and is run by doctors.

 Elizabeth.

1. The easiest (and best?) public sauna is probably the Bains de Paquis.  I've taken my kids there. The problem is that the Swiss insist on almost complete silence in the sauna, which is not easy for kids. There's a women-only night on Tuesdays.

2. What you describe as "bio-sauna" resembles what they here call hammams, or turkish baths. They certainly have that at the Bains de Paquis. (And the insistence on silence is much less.)

PS. Sauna is Finnish, and I don't think you'll find many Finns accepting to use that word for something as cold as 50 degrees.

Hello

Actually there has been some improvements in the health science
concerning baby sauna by the Scandinavians. But my internet research
shows, that the results are not to be found widely on the
english-speaking web...

I am not longer justify myself for taking my baby into the sauna, as this was not my question target.

Thank you all for the posts. If there is anybody out there, who knows a nice sauna, please let me know.
