Serious cooking classes

Are there any serious cooking lessons in GVA? Not one like Migro class 'baking macarons' or one dinner lesure course. Something rather more serious talking about cooking technics, producers, food quality, etc.

If you speak French there are several options in Geneva and nearby France, especially if you're looking for a course that takes 1+ years, e.g. Ecole Hoteliere Geneve

I have never found anything in English.

There was a company in Eaux-Vive called Chex (old website was www.chex.ch) run by a guy called Gavin who was a professional British chef and did a number of courses such as Thai, Indian, French, etc. This was back in 2006/2007 but I don't know what he's doing now. He was a very competant chef and clearly enjoyed sharing his professional knowledge.

His website has this information on it but it's out of date:

We are renovating an old sawmill close to Geneva into a seminar & teaching center where we will be able to offer a broader range of facilities & services than ‘Chex’ previous Geneva location.

Our new venue will be opening mid 2012 it will allow us to cater for a greater number of clients in our wonderful location; here are a few teasers of our future plans!!

We plan growing a portion of the produce in an on-site vegetable garden. The majority of our other produce will be sourced locally. I will be expanding the range of courses that ‘Chex’ offers these will include courses on the traditional local cuisine as well others that I am polishing at this time. We have ideas for music courses, spa retreats, children’s cooking & gardening courses, guided bike tours & much, much more…. Watch this space….

Would be interested to know if anyone knows how this is progressing as based on what I learnt from him, I'd definitely recommend him.

Hi. Apologies if I wasn't clear. The website I'm quoting from was from Chex so was the same Gavin. I just wondered if anyone had actually heard from him or knew about his new business. As I mentioned, the website said his new teaching premises were due to open in Mid-2012 so this last announcement on his website was out of date.

You can also try www.internations.org

Not so big in GVA as Glocals, but wider in terms of locations

Ulya mentioned Internations, you can also look at AngloINFO. You may even want to look at Know It All Passport; I have no idea what the procedure is to get in there, but it's worth a try.

Depending on the quality of your cooking premises, you may also try to find one or more chefs who would be interested to use it for their purpose. You can also try to contact agencies that organize corporate events, but you need a chef to offer them value.
