Speeding tickets

Unfortunatley I have today been the recipient of 2 speeding tickets by way of the lovely radar trap. These were at the same location which is shown as :

Autoroute A1 PK 15.150, direction Rte de Lausanne

I have tried looking up the Geneva cantonal website but there doesn't appear to be any way of finding out where this is so that I can keep a look out for it..

By chance would anyone out there know where this is or alternativley where I can go to find out.?

Many thanks

Cheers

Is this as you enter Geneva from the A1?  When the speed goes from 120 > 100 > 80 > 60?

If you can find the PK along the route, you should be able to find out where exactly on Route de Lausanne they caught you.

Of course, going the speed limit also helps avoid tickets.  :)

I am left wondering why you had to be doing over a 100 mph ?? Perhaps we don't need you on the Swiss motorways !!

Jeffery, but you got 2 tickets in the same place on the same day. So seems a bad speeding habit? now you know where the radar is, you will just speed and just slow down where you know the radars are? I love that there are mobile speeding radars, teaches the abusers of the traffic laws , a leason? Or just try to find a way to get around the law?

Lilly, really you were going 161 in a 110 zone? In Switzerland, you would loose your licence and have to see a judge. And all the fines and court cost, would be worse that 45day ban and 130euros.

Yeah, no one likes getting caught but I am also glad for the radars, etc.

People need to slow down, driving is a privilage and not a RIGHT.

As I like to live in a safe and friendly community :)

Depends on how you look at it ;)

I'm hardly innocent here, as when driving in Portugal on the highway I'm usually around 140~150 (limit is 120km/h, but no one really bothers you if you're under 140 km/h). In Switzerland I drive under the speed limit because I'm aware of how strict the Swiss are with this kind of thing (well... with everything actually, ahah), I just found it funny that you were censoring Lilly on speeding when you're actually the one who started the thread ;) No offense meant though, mate!

I'm not sure it's really the best way to look at it. There are some places or time where a 20kms/hour can be really dangerous, and I don't think driving at 160 on an empty highway , when there are not many curves and the weather is good, in a good car, is that dangerous. I don't think there are really more accidents in Germany in the highway that don't have a limit.

Of course, you can't really say that people telling "you should respect the law and speed limits" are wrong, but sometimes the speed limits are not that logical. to give an exemple, I've a chalet in the alps, and when we leave the village, the speed limit changes from 50 to 80 just before a pretty dangerous curve. I feel much much much more secure at 70 before the speed limits change to 80, than after.

This line of reasoning exactly proves that speed limits are necessary.  Thank you.

I never said that they are not necessary... just that comparing two people, and saying "Mr B is more dangerous than Mr A, because Mr B's excess was 40 kmh and Mr A's was "only" 20, is way too much of a shortcut.

Did you check the facts before posting?

"I don't think there are really more accidents in Germany in the highway that don't have a limit."

According to wikipedia, there are almost twice as many deaths om motorways per driven km in DE than in CH. The German motorways are even more dangerous than the dreaded French!

According to the same wikipedia: The leading cause of autobahn accidents is "excessive speed":

Wheras on normal roads, the Germans are quite safe., so this is clearly linked to their motorway habits.
