Hi Sophie,

You have to apply for the student visa while in your home country. This is after you have applied and been accepted to a recognized educational institution in Switzerland. So the school will send you the visa application forms and a list of all the other documents that are needed by the embassy.

You also have to prove that you can cover the cost of your education and upkeep by providing a bank statement.

After applying, the process takes about two months after which you will either be granted or denied the visa.

If your visa is granted, you will need to apply for the permit B once you arrive in Switzerland. The B permit is renewed yearly.

Hope this answers your question!
