Swimming Pool Repair Change Filter

My swimming pool has a sand filter that needs changing

I have managed to detach and empty ht filter, but cannot get the lid off t o re-fill it with clean sand.

I've tried everything- forcing it, pouring boiling water into it etc.

Any one any ideas of how to get it off, or anyone who can come and take it off and change the sand

Thanks in advance!

There is a way to actually clean the so called "sand filter" or rather the filter used to filter dust, sand and similar materials.

I m not sure why you need to change it but if the reason is to actually clean it to have a better use of it, then there should be an option to actually "rinse" it.

To let the water of the swimming pool get into the filter and then flow it back, that is also a way to clean it. You can do it twice or thrice for a few seconds each time.

to change it I suggest you get in contact with a swimming pool service and maintenance company as it is actually more complicated than it seems, I suppose which includes being able to dis-mount the whole mechanism and I would not recommend to do it yourself

good luck

No I know you have to take it apart and empty the old sand and put new sand in- I've emptied it from the bottom but need to take the lid off to put new sand in.

You have to change the sand ever 5 years to maintain filtration, and this one definitely needed it

Ok ... I was told I have one of the largest pools if not the largest in the area and I actually hire a company to do maintenance twice or thrice in the year

Hence, I am not a specialist but from what I have learnt by listening and watching them while they operate, I understood the container in which the sand filter is , represents a sort of engine in which the water is pumped in and pushed back and in this process, the water is cleared from impurities. But then there is an option to actually clean the sand filter itself once a week or so--- up to you ..

Then, separately, I have another filter which separates leaves and little stones or whatsoever is more material and to open that particular environment, it s quite easy providing that the engine is off and the pipes are closed. Then the cleaning of this other filter becomes an easy operation but again I m not sure  we are speaking of the same type of filters or pool mechanics

By all means, in my pool, there is absolutely nothing you must add or take  out except as I mentioned from the other filter (not the sand one) made of essentially tree leaves and similar.

Sorry if I can not be of further help.
