Swisscom Vs UK Sky HD+

Hey Guys,

Im new to Geneva, only one week in and currently in temp apartment until I move into a permanent apartment in a week or 2. When I do, of course one of the first things I need to do is secure myself access to live Premier League and Champions League football.

I think I have 2 main options, get the full package from Swisscom, which includes internet, telephone and their equivelent of Sky+ in the UK.

Or alternatively I can use this company: haseurope.com who offer UK Sky+ HD.

I would happily take Swisscom, only if I can watch as much or more English/Champs League football as I could with UK Sky+ without having to pay per view for each game.

Can anyone tell me what would be the better choice? Also worth bearing in mind I dont speak French (yet) so I guess most of Swisscoms channels will be wasted on me.

Any advice would be great cheers

Really good advice and info cheers John. I don't think I'd be missing out much if I had Swisscom, but as long as it's not too hard to install then I think I will get UK Sky. Reason being:

1) yes I can watch games in the bars, but that will only cause me to go to work with hangovers and spend a lot of money on beer haha

2) I probably won't be fluent in French for a good year

3) that little bit of extra football sounds good to me

@Ludovic

Hey, I dont know what the equivalant to SKY+ is in the US so I cant say if you can get the same in Geneva. But what I can give you is the UK Sky+ TV guide link (below) which if you browse the channels, you will see which US channels we have e.g. HBO etc

But even if all US channels are not there, because US tv is pretty popular in the UK, you will find most of the decent US tv is actually on UK channels. For example you will see that new Boardwalk Empire programme that is on HBO in the US, but on a channel called Sky Atlantic in the UK.

Its worth looking into.

I would look at Apple tv.  I friend in the old town has it and you get almost all the shows from those networks shortly after the US broadcast date...Smile

I think in the case of UK broadcasts, there might be a lag of a season or so...
