Tenant rights

Is information (or even better, assistance) on the rights of tenants available somewhere in English? I know there is ASLOCA http://www.asloca.ch/ , but they seem to provide service only in English. Another place is the Geneva Welcome Center, but that's only for people employed by international organisations.

Well, me and my partner are sub-tenants, and I would like to know what our legal situation is. (The main tenant rents the apartment from a regie.) There have been some dodgy things which make us a bit uneasy about the situation. (The apartment is lovely, though!)

We have a written agreement with the main tenant. (Whether it is approved by the regie or not, I don't know.)

Thanks, that's helpful. I was not aware of the two-year rule. Perhaps I should consult ASLOCA to get a better idea of the various restrictions and our rights.

ASLOCA, http://www.asloca.ch/, was very helpful, I recommend those with tenancy problems to get in touch with them.
