Since 1991, an equal-type lease agreement has been recommended by real estate professionals in Geneva for apartment rentals and it is very likely that you'll be asked to sign such a lease agreement when you are looking for housing in the Canton of Geneva.
A flyer made up of one page ("Specific Conditions") and containing "General Conditions and Rules and Rental Customs in the Canton of Geneva", this equal lease agreement sets up the basis of a relationship between lessees (tenants) and lessors in the Canton of Geneva. Out of a total of 63 points, the ones which concern the renewal or the notice (Article 13), the termination or the hand over (Article 16) of your apartment are important and often not understood by lessees (tenants) wishing or forced to change residence.
