Turkey for thanksgiving
Ok, glocals, especially of the U.S. variety, where can one find a whole turkey for thanksgiving? I know we more than a month away but a few of us are planning to do a proper thanksgiving and I haven't seen a whole turkey in any store. So...how do we get one?

Aligro

rue François-Dussaud 15

Switzerland

will certainly have deep frozen turkey and possibly fresh ones. They take orders.

If you are ready to go to France, here is the place where I order my X-mas turkey every year:

La Mère Gaud

Impasse Thénières

Most turkeys that you will find are on the smaller size (3.5 to 5 kgs) so if you need something a bit larger it is best to pre-order.  I've usually found them at Migros, but a couple of years ago I was told that they would not be carrying them the following year.  I didn't make a Thanksgiving dinner last year, so I don't know if in the end they still carried them or not.  Good luck!

A reminder! Swiss ovens are not as large as American ones so don't get completely carried away with the size of the bird. It is also good to be nice to the neighbors so you can use their oven as well to prepare/keep warm some of the "fixings".

My mouth is watering already.

Or you can drop by the American store in Geneva for the cranberry sauce.

Ocean Spray Jellied Cranberry Sauce 454g

Ocean Spray Whole Berry Cranberry Sauce 454g

Both for "only" CHF 7.30 a can. They also have a shop-rite version that is a bit less expensive.

They also have pumpkin pie filling as well as canned yams.

last thanksgiving we were 19 people to have a full TG dinner ( clam chowder, as well) at the ramamda park hotel in gva. we had a 4 course menu with wine desert and coffee for 75sfr.

the am. int'l club also has an all you can eat dinner for about 125sfr.

i plan to organise the same thing at ramada park again this year.

well worth the effort.
