Me and a friend of mine flew from Izmir to Geneva via Istanbul yesterday afternoon. We checked 3 pieces of luggage and were only able to retrieve 1. The other 2 are missing still after more than 24 hours. The Swissport personnel at Geneva airport told us that Turkish Airlines have been missing and delaying baggage for the past 10 days or so. At least 20 passengers on our flight didn't get their luggage yesterday. We had plenty of time between connecting flights (including 1 hour delayed departure) and weather conditions were great. This is clearly a case of baggage mishandling.
What shocks me is the fact that they do not update you at all. It is impossible to get a hold of them over the phone and when you go check on the status over the internet, the 2 bags appear as still missing (no clue as to where they may be). Service is rubbish. Since they can't get it together and make passengers go through hell, I want to know if there's anyone in here who might have had the same problem with Turkish Airlines. I think it will be good to contact a Geneva journalist and let the general public know what's been going on with travellers going on Turkish Airlines. Any ideas, suggestions, advice are welcomed! :-) Thanks.

We flew to Antalya and back with AtlasJet in July, and the same cabin crew on both flights. Unfortunately. They spent 3 hours moving bags around our heads and one of the stwardesses wore a very heavy fragrance, tenacious, that she would religiously spray herself with every half hour, making it unbearable to breathe in the cabin. That should be trictly forbidden under their policy: cabin crew should not create discomfort to captive passangers :(

During the holiday months when all of the flights are full, airlines can leave some of the luggage at the origin airport to save weight and transport the baggage on later flights that might have more room. It might not have been a question of incompetence - just economics. Hope you get your items back soon! Taking to twitter should expedite things a bit.

Matt...if having luggage delays for 10-11 days in a row seems a bit normal then we should reconsider transportation and resort to bus/car/boat instead of air. Just saying. It's not the first time my bags don't get delivered but at least I know I'd get them on the next flight and I'm told the bags are on their way. Turkish Airlines haven't explained anything at all. It's now almost 48 hours since I came back and the Swissport office told me Turkish Airlines are still doing this (yesterday flights as well). My advice is...just avoid that airline.

i had a 14 day delay finding my bag with Turkish last year - on a single flight from Beirut to Istanbul - there wasnt even a connection!! they dont start to care up to the 10 day point because they only pay compensation after the bag is 'unaccounted for' for at least 10 days. They dont call it lost or missing at this stage! Good luck though...
