URGENT: certified copy of a German document

Hi,

I urgently need a certified copy of my German diploma but I face major problems with administration: I went to my French Mairie and asked them to make copies of the orginal document. But they refused because it's in German. They said that they only copy and certify documents in French. I pointed out that the contents of the copy will still be identical to the original even if the document was in another language than French, but they keep their position.

Acutally, I need the copy in order to get the French translation from a German translator. So basically, French authorities request a translation, but I need the copy first to get the translation, grrr Yell

Currently the only option is to go to Lyon or Paris for a copy!!!

Does anyone know where I might obtain a certified copy in Geneva? I need it urgently, because I have to meet a deadline.

Please help!

Hi Just me,

You could go to any  Swissnotary and ask him to certify as true copy your document.

You need to show him the original, he will do a copy and certifies the copy as similar to the original doc.

Kind regards

Hi jinalee, the German consulate in Geneva is closed. And the Permanent Mission of Germany at the UN doesn't provide that service. :-(

BUT following Marie H's advice I found a Swiss notary who can certify copies (even in a foreign language). Will go there tomorrow. I love Switzerland. :-)
