Hi,
I would suggest you to go to police station to declare those.
and then you will have to go to population office to get a new work permit, and then to automobile services for the driving license.
cheers

Not sure if police report is necessary.
You may print (or your HR department) a file with the request for new permit due to "missplaced". Same for driving licence (if it was a swiss one).
Cheers,
M

Police declaration is important, as you don't know where those documents have gone and you never know who may try to use those.
Usually administrative services ask for a loss/theft declaration to establish a copy, but as ID documents, it is always good to have those officialy declared lost/theft.

Also, with the police report you can get the costs back from you insurance (provided it was stolen)

Check you household policy. sometimes you will get stolen documents re-imbursed. but it's depending on the company I presume but me and my wife had them re-imbursed already twice (replacement costs).
Which insurance I use is none of your business.
But if you are looking for arguements not to report stolen documents, by all means, don't report it. But don't start crying when your identity is stolen, and you can't actually proove it.
Always report official stolen or lost papers to the police!!!!! No exception. Telling people not to do so is to say the least not smart!

Hello,
don't forget to phone the "objets trouvés" service. Somebody might have taken them overthere.

Valeria, an other usefull comment I see.
Unfortunately - people give sometimes the wrong advise here - and than keep on going on about it, trying to get their OK, and saying - I've never heard of an insurance. Because one hasn't heard of it - does it mean that the other is right?
And than - is it really one other business where one insures him/herself? If someone really wants to know send me a PM and I'm happy to tell.
But telling people - ahhh well. don't report it to the police, i think it's not needed when your driving license and/or other offical papers is/are stolen/lost is NOT SMART and TOTALLY INCORRECT.

Identity theft is a serious and big problem when it happens to you. The concequences can be very and extremely serious and such a subject should not be treated lighthartedly. Report ant theft people!!!!
Now I will chill - peace out.

My apologies Valeria, didn't want to come across as rude :-)
Anyway, identity theft, don't get me started on it, it can have devastating concequences (luckily not with me, but some good friends)

If you don't report the documents stolen but say you lost them and thus dont have a police report, I believe you could face an additional fine / higher fee for the replacement documents.
