You can even use the pre paid card to book on Easyjet and pay less commision, its great and you can get your photo on it as well.

No not to a bank, i have had the bonus credit card for years as before the Swiss bank was a bit picky about giving me one so i found that. For the credit card if you spend more that 300chf a year (easy) the card is free, you get your bill you pay it, its super easy.

For cornercard they are well known for credit cards etc and the debit card is 50chf a year.

In Switzerland master/visa debit cards doesn't exist ..however you could have credit cards (Master, visa & amex) they are available as prepay cards or with credit limit..

for prepay card you dont need to have and credit scoring  

normally you will be given maestro card (debit) by the bank ..but it doesn't work for online shopping

Mastercard Debit exists in Switzerland. You just need to ask your bank. You will need to feed your card regularly through your bank account in order to use it. It is not as wide spread and some shops might not accept it but it is possible to have one.

What is the difference in your opinion between a debit & pre paid card? 

Debit .. You all ALL the balance each month, 

pre paid you can only spend what you have pre loaded your card with... In Switzerland normally up to 3000 chf max

So in Geneva, I know about :

La Poste cards, these are debit cards, directly reducing your account balance. But sometime you can overdraw the account but you get warnings and big 'overdraft charges'.

Maestro is similiar to a debit card. But it also is a Bancomat /Cash machine card that debits directly your bank account. Maestro cards are availiable at most Swiss banks

Corner bank is one of the biggest VISA card companies, typical VISA card conditions that charge you interest after a grace period of say 20 or 25 days. Many banks use other credit card companies to service their 'credit cards' of there clients.

I have a prepaid card linked to corner card cause it’s cheaper to book on EasyJet, its not a bank but it’s the same, anyway with a debit card you can’t overspend I think? Anyway I don’t need it cause I can’t pay its just handy ;-)
