Like everything else internet and phone calls are very expensive in Swiss. Any idea how to pay less for these services.

You get what you pay for. Use a landline whenever possible. Its cheaper. I for example can make unlimited calls globally (landlines only) at zero cost. Once you have an internet connection you can use Skype and Wechat to keep bills down.

My swisscom package is 120chf and includes a zillion TV channels, 50mbps broadband and 500mins of telephone calls to all of europe.
I think it's not bad..
Mobile wise i'm still roaming on my UK network cos it's still cheaper than taking a contract here. But i don't do data with that.
Incidentally - i want to try Lyca mobile, it uses swisscom network and seems really cheap.. But each of the tabac style shops i've gone into only have the big old fashioned SIM card - anybody know where I can get a proper iPhone sized SIM on Lyca ?

for VOIP, try voipbuster or rebtel (i use both). Stay away from switzernet.

We have used Swisscom for last 5 years with no problems - may be a little more expensive but as someone else has said you get what you pay for..

Order your sim card on their website - its free and arrives in about 5 days. Specify you want the nano sim card, its a tick-box option. Actually what you receive is a normal sim card with all three sizes cut into it that can be popped out so you can use whichever fits your phone.

green.ch does internet for much less than Swisscom and uses the same wires so available anywhere Swisscom is availabe.
They also provide a SIP phone service from their router, but you have to buy the DECT phone. The phone number is at least included for free and calls are cheapish.
There isn't reallly any decent mobile providers in Switzerland. I was used to paying $50 per month for unlimited 4g data, calls, SMSs, and unlimited roaming data in 140+ countries (at 2g speed) with t-mobile. Just to get 1Gb of roaming data from Swisscom or Salt is about 180CHF!!! I kept my t-mobile phone for a while but I really needed a local phone number so ended up switching to Salt prepaid with the 1Gb for 15CHF and 10MB europe roaming data for 5CHF. I feel like I moved back to 1990.... there just isn't any competition in Switzerland, all the companies keep their prices high and people keep paying them.

@nzphil for me SWISSCOM is the best and to correct you, whatever your subscription with Swisscom is data access is unlimited. It is the speed that change.

I was refering to data roaming being only 1Gb per month (actually 12Gb per year) for 179CHF per month compared to unlimited for $50 per month.
