Hi everyone,
New in town, au pairing in Cologny but I'm free from 9-5 (the anti-au pair). I was looking to get involved with some kind of volunteer organiziation, because I can't work (American!). I'm a writer/editor usually, but interested in general altruistic activity also, ha. I've searched online and have not found anything really.
Any ideas of volunteer organizations, or anyone in need of some editing hours? I'd be looking at 10-15 hours a week or so.

Please check out Volunteer Geneva (http://volunteergeneva.org/) - but I'm afraid most of our activities are limited to weekends.
Also check the Centre Genevois du Volontariat (http://www.volontariat-ge.org/) for lots of other volunteering opportunities.
If you have a good level of French, the Geneva Red Cross (http://www.croix-rouge-ge.ch/index.php?page=aides-ponctuelles) is also often looking for people.

Most of the Non-governmental organizations in Geneva are in need of voluntary editorial help in English, so I suggest that you contact them individually. You can find a list of the Geneva-based NGOs on goggle.

Our members are sctated among four contininents from the United States to Vanuatu. We work on issues of human rights, development, climate change, the right to development and rule of law. If you are interested in volunteering with us we can also use good writer and editors.
We ask our volunteers to commit for one year. Most our work deals wih international law and international relations issues. I think in first instance we would request you do editing for us, but progressively you could write things as you feel more comfortable with the areas in which we work.
