Volunteering in Geneva
Sep 18, 2008 @ 13:43
I'm looking to spend some of my spare time volunteering. I'd be interested in some sort of desk-job type work, nothing tedious, and I don't speak very much French. So I'm not sure if there are any organizations that would have me (free labor!) but if there are, I have no idea how to find them. Any pointers? Thanks!

You could check out International Conference Volunteers http://www.icvolunteers.org
They are always looking for volunteers to ensure the smooth running of conferences in Geneva. Costs are covered. Did an interpreter role for them once, they were fine. Costs covered. Another positive is that it is sporadic, rather then full time, so might suit your time table more.
Otherwise check the various international organizations and NGOs depending on having a relevant background education in they field of activity. However, they are more likely to want full time people.
Depends what you want. But definitely like their free employees in Geneva. lol
Hope this helps.

Hey, we're looking for volunteers to help out with our art exhibition - Artists united against FGM. The main purpose of the exhibition is to raise funds for the Inter African Committee's intitiatives to stop female genital mutilation (FGM) in Africa. Another important function is of course to raise awareness of this issue and to inform the public.
The exhibition will show the works of 14 artists who are engaged in the subject, from both Africa and Europe, and it will take place between Oct 23 and Nov 15. We need volunteers for both pre-exhibition work and for helping out during the exhibition. We need help with a number of different tasks, not least PR.
It may not be the sort of volunteer work you're looking for, but if you're interested, please get in touch! Your help would be very welcome!
